The songs in ‘Themes’ are separated into three different subject matter which illustrate a musical journey taken over the past 5 years. Whether it was working closely with artists and music he grew up with, reaching curious countries and countless cities the world over offering his latest and greatest choice in music for dance floors, this project is done in the spirit of developing and experimenting with sounds, trying to avoid every foreseeable cliché and ultimately carry a strong refusal to be anything whatsoever.

Journeys

‘Journey's' has strong influences taken from some of the artists A La Fu has worked with closely over the past 10 years, those sounds with a fresh twist, A La Fu's ‘keep em moving' objective on the floor, add to that the wonderful Sandra Melody and we complete a fine take on those hot, sweaty club nights built on movement…listen close though, there’s some important history in there.

Bazouki Joe

“The great thing about the turntable is that for one moment it can allow you to give your own interpretation of an instrument with a chosen sound. Here we work with a sound, build something new from it, and include some extra depth from one of the world’s finest lyricists Scribe Sayar”.

Misadventure

And so the journey continues and of course we all know what happens with tales of excess and so-called glamour but sometimes that short often erratic spell means more than a laborious, irrelevant, uninspired calculated tragedy, an overall lack of real life experience, living and misadventure.

Electronicatastrophe

A battle between electronic and contemporary music. No matter how strong the electronic side tries, the instrumentation always manages to break through. The battle is deceptive…an electronicatastrophe if you will.

Potential Theme///

Incidental Music

Music that relates to or accompanies something more important…“The funny thing is that although I make most of my music with a computer involved I usually dislike that particular part of the process and get pretty impatient but without it would be much more difficult for me to create things, hmm…somewhat paradoxical but after all I don’t have a spare orchestra laying around”.

Interview 2,037

We here at VaVa HQ don’t know if you know but we have managed to build a special time machine and have just came back from the future where we found this archive interview with an older, retrospective A La Fu. We presented it to him and rather bemused he wrote a small piece to accompany his potential and surely tongue in cheek words.
